1. What kind of projects can I propose?

The application materials must be in English, and your planned project cannot be a section of your dissertation or thesis. Otherwise, there are no restrictions on the project you can suggest as long as you can support it over the fellowship period as being intriguing, novel, and doable. Please think about whether the resources you have at this location would be appropriate for you to pursue your idea.

2. How should my planned project vary from my earlier efforts?

There is no set formula or hard and fast rule for how the proposal should appear. All you need to show is that you haven’t already completed any work that is directly linked to your intended project, such as master’s theses, published essays, novels, etc. You ought to have already given your project idea a lot of thought.

3. May I submit two project ideas?

One project is selected for the fellowship. So, we advise concentrating on enhancing just one proposition.

4. Should my recommenders send the letters of reference separately or should I attach them to my application?

We will accept both, but we prefer it if the writers of your references email the letters to us immediately.

5. Is TOEFL/IELTS required?

Only the documents on the list are necessary. We do not need your TOEFL or IELTS scores because your application should already demonstrate your command of the English language.

6. When may I expect a response to my application?

As soon as we can, we will acknowledge receiving your submission. Final decisions are announced by the end of July following the start of the application evaluation and interview processes in June.

7. What time does the fellowship occur?

Although the specific dates are optional, the fellowship’s five to six-month duration should ideally begin in the summer and end within the year.

8. Is it required to stay at Einstein’s vacation home?

Yes. We anticipate the fellow to live in Caputh as part of the Einstein Fellowship.

9. What purposes is the stipend allowed for?

The stipend is meant to cover project costs as well as living expenses incurred during your fellowship.

10. Can my relatives join me? Does the fellowship pay for family members’ travel costs?

You are allowed to bring your family along for the fellowship. Their travel costs will not be covered by the program.

11. My request was denied. Can I apply again next year?

You are welcome to reapply for the fellowship the following year with a fresh proposal as long as you continue to meet the other eligibility requirements.
